The first Monday of TIFF is when things start to get back to normal in Toronto as the opening weekend frenzy of visitors starts to disperse, and the festival becomes more about the movies and less about the big events.

Case in point is the excitement and chaos that surrounded the Canadian premiere of La La Land starring Emma Stone, who won the Best Actress prize in Venice for this role, and Canada’s own Ryan Gosling. Then came the frenzy over Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, who danced their way along the red carpet for Canadian director Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi project, Arrival.

Monday evening wrapped up with a glimpse of Mr. Pretty Woman himself, Richard Gere; he walked the red carpet for the premiere of Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer.
