Calgary man accused in Crescent Heights body dismemberment back in custody

The man accused of dismembering and trying to dispose of the body of a Calgary woman in June is back behind bars.

Joshua Weise is now accused of breaching his bail conditions for allegedly having a knife in his possession. He was arrested July 27 and appeared via CCTV to speak to the charges from the Calgary Remand Centre Thursday.

Weise is charged with interfering with the human remains of Joey English.

Partial remains of English, 25, were discovered in a treed area on the west side of the intersection of Centre Street N. and Samis Road N.E. on June 8.

The Crown consented to bail for Weise July 7. At the time, prosecutor Ken McCaffrey said he felt he must consent to the release but added: “I do want Mr. Weise to know this is the one and only time the Crown will consent to his bail.”

Weise is scheduled to be back in court Aug. 16 for another bail hearing.
