Red Earth Cree Nation is the latest community to be evacuated as Carrot River is expected to peak Friday evening.
Approximately 800 people from the Red Earth Cree Nation were forced out of the community Friday evening.
On Friday afternoon, Red Earth Cree Nation’s chief and council made the decision to evacuate remaining residents due to concerns about maintaining access to the community.
Emergency Social Services is now arranging for residents to stay in several centres in the province, likely in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Regina.
A state of emergency is in place for five communities including Carrot River, Red Earth, the R.M. of Moose Range, the Town of Arborfield and the R.M. of Arborfield.
The Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army have moved in to Arborfield to help support the local response, along with other organizations helping to rebuild the community.
On Sunday a recovery centre will be setup by the province in Arborfield to offer assistance to residents.
The centre will be located at 213 Main Street in Arborfield and open on Sunday, July 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, July 18 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, July 19 9 am. to 12 p.m.
The PDAP has been working with 20 Saskatchewan communities to complete the process for assistance due to flooding, 11 of which have been designated for assistance including Yorkton, Estevan, Watrous, Meota, Carrot River, Arborfield and the R.M.s of Foam Lake, Mankota, Moose Range, Arborfield and Latonia.
