Jace Daniels and Matt Bucknor among the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ final cuts

WINNIPEG – There were a few surprises as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced their final cuts on Saturday.

Offensive lineman Jace Daniels, cornerback Matt Bucknor and receiver Justin Veltung all started games for the Bombers last season but all three were released.

In all the Bombers cut nine players outright including defensive lineman Emmanuel Dieke, running back Carlos Anderson, receiver Julian Talley, defensive back Jonte Green, offensive lineman Zachary Intzandt and receiver Fred Williams.

The Bombers also placed nine players on the club’s practice roster including running back Tim Flanders who impressed in a pair of pre-season games. Offensive lineman Manase Foketi, receiver Thomas Mayo, defensive lineman Padric Scott, defensive end Louie Richardson, fullback Tim Cronk, defensive back C.J. Roberts, defensive end Adrian Hubbard, and receiver Gerrard Sheppard all agreed to remain with the team in a practice roster capacity.

The Bombers are still six players over the CFL’s roster limit but will get down to a 46-man roster by adding players to the injured list which will be announced on Thursday.
