Hip hop artist Kanye West is coming to Edmonton this fall. The controversial but highly successful artist will perform at Rogers Place on Saturday, October 15.

It’s one of the over two dozen stops on the North American THE SAINT PABLO TOUR, which kicks off at the end of August in Indianapolis. It’s West’s first North American tour since 2013’s Yeezus Tour, which drew sold-out crowds.

In the three years since, West has released his The Life Of Pablo album, and become a father of two children with his wife, reality television celebrity Kim Kardashian.

West is known for being erratic, often speaking his mind and going on rants.

He famously interrupted fellow artist Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 VMA awards, rushing the stage to take the microphone and said, “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”

The very vocal rapper said earlier this year that he suffered from major writer’s block after the 2009 incident, and felt persecuted by media and fans alike.

More recently, what was supposed to be a surprise Kanye West show in New York City last week quickly turned to chaos as thousands of fans descended on the venue. The secret show was hinted to start at 2 a.m. Monday, and according to West’s Twitter page was sold out by 1 a.m. More than 4,000 people swarmed Webster Hall, which only holds 1,500, for the pop-up show.
