The Calgary Zoo announced Wednesday that three Humboldt penguin chicks born last month are set to join the Penguin Plunge.

The chicks hatched on May 14, 16 and 31 to parents Estaban and Karina, Horatio and Sophie and Santiago and Juanita respectively.

“These spring chicks are a happy addition to our colony and for the Humboldt species,” Calgary Zoo curator Dr. Malu Celli said in a news release. “Humboldt penguins are listed as vulnerable according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List and are part of the zoo’s Species Survival Plan (SSP).”

The penguin chicks are currently with their parents in the outdoor burrows at Penguin Plunge.

The genders of the chicks hasn’t yet been determined.

This is the second round of penguin chicks to hatch at the Calgary Zoo since Penguin Plunge opened in 2012. The first Humboldt penguin chick, Emilio, hatched on June 27, 2015 to first-time parents Javier and Reina.
