A Grande Prairie woman has charged with manslaughter after another woman who lived in the same apartment building died after allegedly being assaulted earlier in the week.
RCMP said officers were called to an assault complaint shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The victim, Sherra Eckert, told police and paramedics she needed medical attention after having been assaulted the night before.
Police said Eckert died on Friday.
Barb Wright of Grande Prairie is charged with manslaughter in connection with Eckert’s death and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Court on Monday.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
