The patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, Phil Robertson, has waded into the transgender bathroom controversy, and as usual, his comments are highly polarizing.

Robertson has paired with Citizens United, an American organization “dedicated to restoring our government to citizens’ control,” to raise money off the North Carolina bathroom law. Citizens United is also known as being anti-Hillary Clinton, who is running to be the Democratic presidential candidate. (For the record, Clinton has vowed to take the organization down if she’s elected.)

The state recently made it mandatory for people to use facilities that match their birth certificates, essentially barring transgender individuals from using whichever bathroom they’re comfortable using.

Robertson (together with Citizens United) sent an email out to conservatives over the weekend, saying that he has a “radical idea.”

“Men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom,” Robertson wrote. “Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted.”

“The Judeo-Christian values that led America to greatness are under full assault by the mob mentality of political correctness, and we’re slowly losing our soul,” he continued.

The email includes a link to StandTallWithPhil.org, which asks for donations to an effort named “Speak Freely from Citizens United.”
