Foul play not suspected in death of Catherine Curtis: Winnipeg police

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police and the office of the Chief Medical Examiner have confirmed the body found in Sturgeon Creek was that of missing 60-year-old, Catherine Curtis.

In a news release Thursday evening police said foul play is not suspected.

On Wednesday afternoon, emergency personnel responded to a report of a body found in the creek at Sturgeon Creek Park near Portage Avenue.

Curtis was last seen leaving the Grace Hospital Monday morning.

Searchers and police dive teams scoured the area for days on the lookout for Curtis, but came up empty handed.

Curtis’ daughter Janelle DePeazer told Global News that her mother had been in hospital for anxiety and depression since April 13, but added that it was out of character for her to wander off and not return.
