An elderly woman was leaving CF Market Mall in northwest Calgary late Tuesday morning when she said her car burst into flames.
Fire crews on scene said the woman was heading towards Varsity Drive when smoke began billowing from her car.
She pulled over and jumped out moments before it burst into flames.
The woman was alone in the car at the time and no one was hurt.
Witness Bien Tran said she was pulling into the parking lot at around 11:45 a.m. when she saw smoke in the area.
“It was a very fierce fire,” Tran said.
Calgary fire crews were on scene for about an hour dousing the flames and putting out hot spots.
