EDMONTON — Homicide detectives are investigating after it was reported four or five suspects wearing dark clothing and hoods got out of a vehicle and hit a man multiple times with baseball bats. The vehicle then reportedly left the scene.

Police were called to 115 Ave. and 137 Street in the Woodcroft neighbourhood at around 10 p.m. Thursday.

An officer with west division said a man was found lying on the ground suffering from “significant injuries,” but didn’t elaborate on the nature of them.

The victim – believed to be in his 30s – was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators said they’re searching for multiple suspects. They believe this was not a random attack.
