Police have released the names of a mother and son killed in what investigators are calling a domestic homicide at a house in Richmond Hill.

York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden said officers responded to a call just before 11 a.m. Thursday and found two people deceased with “obvious signs of trauma” inside a house on Dunvegan Drive, near Garden Avenue and Hunters Point Drive.

Pattenden said investigators believe the homicide is “domestic-related” and are not currently searching for suspects.

On Friday, the deceased were identified as Richmond Hill residents Karen Costa, 52,  and Jeffrey Costa, 22.

The homicide unit was investigating Thursday with the coroner attending the scene. Police also set up a set up a command post with a forensics unit.

No other details on the cause of the death have been released. Autopsies are scheduled for Friday.
