MONTREAL – Eleven people were arrested Thursday afternoon during a drug bust in Montreal North and Repentigny.

The SWAT team made the arrests around 4 p.m. on Arthur-Chevrier Street.

Two suspects tried to flee and one was hit with a rubber bullet.

He was taken to hospital.

The provincial police have been called in to investigate the shooting.

Authorities said one of those arrested was Dany Villanueva, the brother of Fredy Villanueva, a teenager who was shot and killed by an officer in 2008.

The incident became a symbol of the harsh tensions between police and the city’s visible minority community.

All suspects are expected to appear in court Friday on drug trafficking charges.
