SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is removing one of its Saskatoon candidates after past derogatory social media posts were sent to Global News Thursday.

A Saskatchewan Party official sent Global News three social media posts from 2011-13 that were attributed to a Clayton Wilson, a former Saskatoon Northwest NDP candidate.

“There’s a little harmless fun in asking the new Admin Assistant how’s she’s liking the new position,” read one of the posts from Oct. 3, 2011.

“Is liking my Chip card for all the wrong reasons … does that Tim’s woman really mean “stick it in”??,” read another from Oct. 4, 2011.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A third post from Sept. 27, 2013, featured an internet meme that says “a true gentleman holds the door for his woman … then smacks her ass.” Wilson had added “True, ladies?” onto the post.

“Any comment which treats violence against women lightly is disgusting, period,” said Saskatchewan NDP Leader Cam Broten in an e-mailed statement.

Wilson had come under fire Wednesday from Saskatchewan Party Leader Brad Wall after he brought to light a March, 2014 flurry of social media posts by Wilson.

“Grain moved just fine with the [Canadian Wheat Board] before the stupid farmers wanted their “fee market,” read one of the posts Wall highlighted.

“Yesterday, sort of, I think disrespectful of farmers from this NDP candidate and today these posts seem to be disrespectful of women,” said Wall in an interview with Global News.

“As a husband and a father to daughters, I do think they’re derogatory posts,” he added.

A Saskatchewan NDP spokesperson said they plan to find a new candidate quickly.
