Global News, 16×9 snag major honours at Canadian Screen Awards

Global News along with Global’s flagship investigative program 16×9, has been honoured with multiple awards by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television at the Canadian Screen Awards Tuesday night.

16×9 picked up an award for Best News or Information Series. The program first debuted on television in 2008.

Global News was also presented with the Best News Special Award for Decision Alberta, Global’s coverage of 2015’s historic provincial election in Alberta that saw the New Democrats unseat the Progressive Conservative party after it held power for 44 years in the province.

Global News’ Nancy Hixt, Dani Lantela and Lee Dillman also earned top honours for Best Local Reportage for Taxi Assault, which highlighted the abuse behaviour faced by taxi drivers.
