WINNIPEG — Family members of missing Winnipeg teenager, Cooper James Nemeth, say they are in urgent need of volunteers for a search party taking place Tuesday afternoon.

The community search party is scheduled for 4 p.m. and volunteers are asked to meet at the Gateway Community Centre at 1717 Gateway Road.

The grade 12 student was last seen in the early morning hours Sunday at a house party according to his aunt and friends. It is believed he left the party between 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m., possibly going to a second party at an unknown address.

Nemeth’s aunt, Laresa Sayles, was one of the organizers of a search party that took place on Monday.  The large group split up into smaller groups of two and three to cover as much ground as possible in the Sun Valley and Valley Gardens areas.

The group was going door-to-door to see if anyone had seen or heard from the missing teen. They were also checking ditches and even dumpsters in the surrounding area.

“He’s 17, he’s a good kid, he plays hockey with the Marauders and I think he just got himself into a little bit of trouble and I’m hoping he sees this and just texts me and I’ll come and get him,” Sayles said through tears Monday afternoon.
