Tyler Noel made brief court appearance in Moncton on Monday to face several new charges in addition to previous charges of first-degree murder and arson in the death of Baylee Wylie.
The new charges against Noel relate to his arrest on Jan. 9. They include unlawfully entering a dwelling house with the intention of committing an offence, possessing a .22-calibre rifle for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possessing a .22-rifle knowing that was obtained illegally and one charge of breaching a court order.

Noel’s lawyer, Sylvin Pellerin, asked for more time to consult with his client on his case.
He will be back in court on Mar. 10, when it’s expected a date for the preliminary inquiry will be confirmed.
It’s expected the inquiry will begin sometime during the week of May 16th.
Morningstar to stand trial
Eighteen-year-old Devin Morningstar also had a court appearance Monday; the results of his 30-day psychiatric assessment show he is fit to stand trial.
Morningstar has been charged with first-degree murder and arson in connection with Wylie’s death.
His lawyer, Robert Rideout, is waving the right to a preliminary hearing and proceeding to trial as soon as possible. He will be back in court on Mar. 7 to set a trial date.
Shephard still not heard from
Police continue to search for Marissa Shephard, also charged with arson and first-degree murder in relation to Wylie’s murder.
In January, New Brunswick RCMP released a video pleading for the public’s help locating Shephard, which has since been viewed more than 400,000 times across the country.
Const. Julie Rogers-Mars says that despite rumours, police have no evidence to suggest that Shephard is dead.
Both Shephard’s father and Stephen Nagle, the father of her four-year-old son, have spoken out saying they fear she is dead.
