LETHBRIDGE – Police say the death of a woman found severely injured in an apartment building along Columbia Boulevard on Sunday is being investigated as a homicide.

Friends tell Global News the 56 year old woman who was found in this west side apartment was Candy Little Light.

“I came to visit her last night, and the police told me what I didn’t want to hear,” said friend Joanne Smith.

Smith was a former roommate of Little Light’s.  The pair had been friends for 19 years.

Officers found Little Light at around 5:15 p.m. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators questioned several people from the apartment and the K9 Unit conducted a search of the area.

Police confirm they had been called to the apartment just hours before Little Light’s body was found, but wouldn’t elaborate.

Police said there is no evidence to suggest Little Light’s death is connected to the murder of 78-year-old Irene Carter in January.

“Investigation in the Carter homicide is also ongoing but police will not elaborate or provide any additional details.”

An autopsy is expected to be completed within the next few days.
