LETHBRIDGE – A school bus full of children collided with an SUV travelling the opposite direction in Lethbridge late Wednesday afternoon.
The collision happened near the intersection of 23 St. and 15 Ave. North. Emergency responders used the jaws of life to remove the single occupant of the SUV, who was then sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No students on board the Holy Spirit School bus were injured. The children were taken away from the scene of the crash in a spare bus shortly after the collision.
“I was just walking across the street and when I looked forwards I just saw the bus slam into the car on the driver’s side,” said Keyana Shawl, a bystander. “I saw basically all the kids were not really that scared but they were pretty shaken up. Some kids left crying.”
Police are investigating the collision.
