CALGARY – The daughter of two seniors viciously assaulted in their Thorncliffe home during a robbery last year is pleading for help from the public.

Ada’ parents, both in their 70s, were injured when two men forced their way into the couple’s home in the 6000 block of Buckthorn Road N.W. at around 5 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015.

The suspects demanded jewelry and money from the seniors, and assaulted them before they fled the home.

On Tuesday, Ada spoke publicly about the incident at the scene of a Crime Stoppers re-enactment, which police hope will help further the investigation. (NOTE: Ada requested her last name not be used.)

“It’s been over a month and a half since my parents were brutally attacked and robbed,” Ada said. “They both are still traumatized, having nightmares and feeling unsafe in their own home.”

Ada said her father struggles to walk and is weak due to his injuries, while her mother is waiting for surgery to repair the vision in her eye.

“If anyone has any information, we are begging you to please come forward.”

According to Ada, the attack has reduced the independence her parents once had.

“Now, [my mother] doesn’t go grocery shopping, can’t drive, can’t even take a walk around the neighbourhood like she used to. We have to hold her, because she’s scared of losing her balance.”

“They’re scared to walk into the kitchen, they’re scared to hear noises in their house… they’re not sleeping.”

Investigators believe the home invasion was targeted, saying the suspects demanded specific items from the couple.

The first suspect is described as being in his late 20s, 6’2” in height with a slim build. He was wearing a blue and white bandana across his face.
