First Nations schools across Saskatchewan will be holding a moment of silence this Friday to remember the victims of the La Loche shooting. The moment of silence will take place at 9 a.m. CT.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, families and community members who are dealing with the devastating effects of last Friday’s tragedy, said Bobby Cameron, chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.
“We want to keep the memory of the people who have passed away in our hearts and minds.”

Flags at the schools will also be lowered to half-mast all day in a show of support and solidarity for the students, teachers and staff at the La Loche Community School and for the communities of La Loche and Clearwater River Dene Nation.
Cameron is also inviting all public and separate schools in Saskatchewan and across Canada to join in the moment of silence.

A 17-year-old teen is accused of going on a shooting rampage in the northern Saskatchewan community that left four people dead and seven others wounded.
Two brothers were killed at a home prior to the high school shooting that left a teacher and a teacher’s aide dead.
Seven other people were injured at the school. Government officials have not been providing updates on their conditions, citing patient privacy.
