Country singer Randy Travis has been out of the public eye since he had a massive stroke in 2013.
Following the stroke, Travis has been unable to sing or speak, and can only walk with the help of a cane.
In December 2015, a longtime friend of the talented singer, Chuck Lipps, visted Travis and his wife, Mary, at their home in Texas. According to the Parkersburg News and Sentinel, Lipps is confident that Travis will make a “total recovery” from his severe stroke.

“He can talk… say words, but no sentences. He is alert and knew me,” Lipps, also a music performer, said.
According to Lipps, the singer was doing well and was able to walk once around the house without the help of his wife.
Instead of spending a half-hour with Travis (as they had scheduled), the pair spent the entire day reminiscing and looking through a photo album.

Lipps claims that Travis remembered the events in the photo album and smiled while they thumbed through the book. Lipps, Travis and his wife even went out for dinner in the evening.
“I think Randy will make a total recovery,” Lipps said to the Sentinel. “It was an amazing day. I am proud of him. He is lucky to be alive.”
Travis has sold over 25 million records, and has earned 22 number-one hits, six number-one albums, six Grammy Awards, six CMA Awards, nine ACM Awards, 10 AMA Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
