RCMP charged a former provincial jail guard on Thursday with two counts of committing an indecent act for incidents that allegedly occurred at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac, N.B.
Twenty-nine-year-old Christien Robichaud of Bouctouche, N.B. is accused of masturbating at the facility in front of two female guards.
Police say the incidents occurred between Dec. 1, 2014 and Jan. 31, 2015.
Robichaud’s wife Jessica Gavin spoke to Global News and said her husband was fired in October 2015. She said she learned of the complaints a short time later.
She said her husband began working at the prison when it opened in 2012 and had recently been promoted to a supervisory role in the spring of 2015.
Robichaud is scheduled to appear in court to face the charges on Jan. 14.
