Things got scary on Facebook on Sunday when troubled musician Sinead O’Connor posted what seemed to be a suicide note to the social media site.

The letter, addressed to the public, made reference to her family and a hysterectomy she underwent in August:

In the days leading up to Sunday, O’Connor’s Facebook activity referenced a custody battle, her childrens’ status as wards of the court, and alleged child abuse. The 48-year-old singer has four children with four different men: Shane Lunny, 11, Yeshua Bonadio, 8, Jake Reynolds, 28, and daughter Roisin Waters, 19.

On Friday, O’Connor wrote an extended post to her followers about being “desperately in need of a job and a place to live” and said she was “being treated so badly by my family that [she could] barely manage to stay alive.”

Irish police later confirmed that O’Connor is “safe and sound” and receiving medical treatment.

This is not the first time the Irish singer has made threats to take her own life. In 2011, she made a series of suicidal tweets from her Twitter account. O’Connor has had a long history of mental illness and depression.

If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, is in crisis or needs someone to talk to, you can find 24-hour help through the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention.
