Houston Police say one person is dead and another wounded after a shooting at a Texas Southern University student housing complex.
University spokesman Kendrick Callis said the shooting was reported around 11:30 a.m. Friday at University Courtyard Apartments on the edge of the Houston campus. Callis said the campus was placed on lockdown and classes were cancelled for the rest of the day.
Houston Police tweeted early Friday afternoon that a possible suspect had been detained.

“All staff are asked to remain in offices – students to remain in classrooms until further notice,” a statement on the university’s website reads.

The university has about 9,700 students.
The incident came several hours after a suspected gunman was arrested on Northern Arizona University’s campus after one person died and three others were injured.
