14-year-old charged with manslaughter in Saskatoon shooting death

SASKATOON – A 14-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a teen on Sept. 7, 2015. It is the sixth homicide in Saskatoon this year.

The teen has also been charged with criminal negligence causing death.

A 15-year-old boy was found dead early in the evening on Labour Day Monday at a home in the 300-block of Avenue Q South.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot injury.

Police say the teens knew each other and the shooting was not a random act.

The 14-year-old appeared in Saskatoon provincial court Monday morning.

Police announced additional charges Monday morning. This comes after 10 firearms-related charges were announced against the boy on Friday, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized.
