Canadian University Football is coming to Global

EDMONTON – For the first time ever, Global Television will be the official home of the Canada West Hardy Cup Playoffs.

In a statement, Phil Piazza, vice president of Global TV’s marketing and content acquisitions for Shaw Media said the company is proud to partner with the Canada West, Shaw and the N8 Group.

“Canada is home to outstanding university-level sports and we’re proud to showcase that nationally through our broadcast of this season’s Hardy Cup playoffs on Global.”

Under the agreement, Global will broadcast one of two Hardy Cup Semi Finals and the 79th Hardy Cup Final on Saturday, November 14.

David Dube, the founding partner of the N8 Group, sees this partnership as a way to grow the sport.

Shaw TV will once again broadcast weekly games throughout the season including this weekend’s season opener between the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Regina Rams (7 p.m. on Shaw TV, Shaw HD, Shaw Direct 299).
