Investigators said the attack looked to be targeted, but wouldn’t say if the victim was known to police.

“We’re in the process right now of interviewing witnesses and trying to formulate what happened,” said Duty Inspector Ryan Ayliffe at a Thursday night news conference. “There are witnesses and they are cooperating with the investigation.”

“These type of incidents, we take them seriously because we want to make sure our community is safe.”

Ayliffe says there’s nothing at this time to suggest the shooting was linked to the death of 27-year-old David Quach in Monterey Park on Saturday.

“But that doesn’t mean we don’t look at all possible angles of an investigation,” added Ayliffe. “And that’s what our people are doing right now.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
