REGINA – Good news for anyone looking for another excuse to visit the many beautiful lakes and rivers in Saskatchewan. Due to wildfire conditions in northern areas of the province earlier this summer, an additional opportunity is being offered for anglers.

The provincial government announced a second weekend this summer you can fish freely without having to purchase a licence. The next free fishing weekend will take place in the province August 29 and 30.

Free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks and a licence must be purchased if you plan to take fish out of Saskatchewan. For more information on specific catch limits, see the 2015 Anglers’ Guide.

The last free fishing weekend took place on July 11 and 12.
