Montreal in the throes of construction blitz

WATCH ABOVE: There are some 410 construction projects ongoing on the streets of Montreal . Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre is promising to keep track of the projects to push to get them finished on time. Tim Sargeant explains.

MONTREAL – An unprecedented amount of road projects are underway in Montreal – 410 to be exact.

And that doesn’t include the work being done by suburban cities and towns or Transport Quebec.
Montreal mayor Denis Coderre outlined 34 of the biggest projects at a press conference at city hall Monday.
One of those is Peel Street it in the heart of the downtown core.
Mayor Coderre says the work progress on the street is being monitored by an inspector.
A city report indicates the work on Peel Street is at risk of falling behind schedule and not being completed by the targeted end date this fall.
$270 Million is being spent on road work in Montreal this year – a record amount.
