VAUDREUIL-DORION – Buddy is a horse with a good life.
He’s a rescue at A Horse Tale, a volunteer organization that provides greener pastures for horses that need help.

“Three of them are ex-calèche horses who came here for retirement,” said Mike Grenier, Horse Tale Vice-President.
“We work with the organization downtown to allow them to have a place to have a home.”
This summer, Buddy and the nine other horses came to their new home – but it’s a bit of a fixer upper.

“We moved here in June and the barn was originally a cow barn,” said Grenier.
“There was a lot of work that had to be done for the initial move to get into the space. As we’re moving up towards winter, we have the back part of the barn that needs to be ‘winterized.'”
A Horse Tale desperately needs funds to make it through the winter.
The goal: $15, 000.
“It is very needed. We just moved here so we spent a ton of money on fixing up the barn,” said fundraising coordinator Megan McMorine.
“Now, it’s just to keep us going through the winter until next year.”
They’re holding an open house and BBQ Saturday in an effort to meet that goal.

In addition to fixing up their barns, money will go towards vet bills and medication.
“A lot of our horses need special medication, some have diabetes, other have arthritis. The medication does get expensive,” said McMorine.
In addition to creating a better home for the horses that are already here, funds raised will also help build an additional space for three new horses.
