WINNIPEG — Environment Canada says a microburst may have ripped off parts of a roof in the Onanole area.
Meteorologist Natalie Hasell says there were reports of a possible a funnel cloud, but those have not been confirmed.
“We think it was a micro burst event,” Hasell said. “In some cases that becomes concentrated so over a very small area suddenly you will have this big gust of wind.”

The storm moved through around 7 a.m. Wednesday and damaged a vacant home. Several trees also came down during the “quick” but strong system. Onanole is about 260 km northwest of Winnipeg, near Riding Mountain National Park.
A thunderstorm warning is currently in effect for St. Rose, Brandon, Portage, Selkirk and Dugald. Storms may be seen throughout the day as Environment Canada sees another line of storms moving behind the current system.
“We are expecting things to redevelop this afternoon,” said Hazell.
Most of southern Manitoba is under severe thunderstorm warnings or watches Wednesday.
