Federal Election 2015: York Centre riding results

Summary: Long a Liberal stronghold, the Conservatives scored a major upset here in 2011 when Mark Adler defeated incumbent Liberal MP and hockey hero Ken Dryden. Adler is seeking re-election.

Boundaries: This riding no longer includes Newtonbrook West. It covers Fisherville,  York University Heights, Bathurst Manor, Downsview-Roding, Clanton Park, Wilson Heights and Armour Heights.

Last Election: Conservative Adler earned 48.5 per cent of the vote to defeat Dryden by a margin of 15.2 per cent. Had the new riding boundaries been in effect in 2011, the result would have been the same.

History: The Liberal party held this seat from 1962 until Dryden’s defeat in 2011. Other notable former MPs from this riding include Bob Kaplan and Art Eggleton.

Demographics: According to the 2011 National Household Survey, 18.6 per cent of the population is Jewish, the third highest figure in Ontario.
