Ribfest winning over Saskatoon taste buds

SASKATOON- Ribbers from across the country are trying to win over the taste buds of festival goers in Saskatoon at the Nutana Rotary Club’s third annual Ribfest. Rotary club member Darren Williams says that while this event is relatively new to the city, the trend is popular in eastern Canada.

“We probably have 20 rotary clubs across the Ontario that do Ribfest and have been doing them for 20 years. They’re huge successes,” he said.

Williams also stresses how the event is about more than just ribs, but also about providing a one-of-a-kind family friendly event that becomes a hallmark of the August long weekend in Saskatoon.

The event raises funds for youth charities, both locally and abroad. This year Ribfest partnered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Ribfest attendance on Friday was ahead of last year’s and organizers hope the weather will allow them to keep up the momentum.

The event at Diefenbaker Park ends on Monday.
