Canpotex announces new CEO as current boss gets set to retire

SASKATOON – Canpotex, the marketing arm of three Saskatchewan potash producers, is getting a new CEO. The current president and CEO, Steve Dechka, is retiring at the end of the year after 32 years of service with the company.

Taking over is Ken Seitz, who was the senior vice-president and chief commercial officer of Saskatoon-based Cameco.

“Canpotex has grown significantly and succeeded under Steve’s leadership,” said Seitz.

“I share his belief in the power of people, and in his unwavering commitment to customers. We will build upon the strong foundation he has helped to create.”

Seitz was chosen after a thorough search by the board of governors.

“Ken has deep expertise in marketing and business development, and we have every confidence that he will continue his record of success in his new role at Canpotex,” stated board chair Jochen Tilk, who is also the president and CEO of PotashCorp.

Seitz holds three degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and is a professional engineer. During his time with Cameco, Seitz interacted with business executives and governments around the world and has expertise in marketing and sales.

Seitz will take over his new duties on Nov. 1, 2015. Dechka will remain with Canpotex in an advisory role.

Canpotex is the exclusive off-shore marketing company for, and owned by, Agrium, Mosaic and PotashCorp.
