Teens caught in Saskatoon with stolen Prince Albert vehicle

SASKATOON – Two teens are facing dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charges after they were spotted driving erratically in Saskatoon’s City Park neighbourhood on Monday morning. It was later learned the vehicle had been stolen in Prince Albert.

The vehicle was spotted being driven erratically eastbound on Princess Street from 2nd Avenue around 9 a.m.

An officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver sped away northbound on 6th Avenue towards Duchess Street.

The driver then attempted to turn east onto Duchess but was unable to due to the high rate of speed. The vehicle narrowly missed two cyclists and then crashed into a building in the 500-block of Duchess.

The two teens then fled on foot.

One entered a building in the 600-block of Lauriston Street. Two people inside attempted to help police capture the teen when the youth deployed bear spray.

A man was treated at the scene for the effects of bear spray.

The second teen was arrested a short distance away after being spotted by another patrol unit.

A 13-year-old boy is facing two charges of assault, one each of obstruction, possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police and two counts of breach of an undertaking. He will make his second court appearance on Wednesday.

The second boy, 14, is facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He will make his second court appearance on Aug. 20.
