Evacuation alerts lifted for Okanagan fires

OKANAGAN–Cooler, damper weather is being credited with helping fire crews get the upper hand on the wildfires burning in the Okanagan.

The Shelter Cove fire burning on Westside Road near West Kelowna, is now 75 per cent contained.

The evacuation alerts for 70 properties in the area has been lifted.

Crews are completing danger tree assessments and mopping up the perimeter of the fire.

The Bolean Lake fire burning in the mountains above Falkland is also 75 per cent contained.

Evacuation alerts for 24 properties in that area have been rescinded.

Crews are continuing to build containment lines around the perimeter of the fire.
