SASKATOON – It’s been 31 years since the heart of rock and roll beat in Saskatoon. Huey Lewis promised fans they won’t have to wait that long for him to come back.
Huey Lewis and the News took to the stage Tuesday night at the The Bess for the Cameco Cares concert series.
“You are to be applauded for this,” Lewis said before playing the sold-out show.
“Good hospitals and good charity programs are the earmarks of a great community.”
He said music is a tough business and you have to be lucky to succeed “so why not be gracious about it and give a little back.”
From the opening heartbeat that led into The Heart of Rock and Roll to the closing notes of Workin’ for a Livin’, Huey Lewis and the News played a 90 minute set that included a number of hits and two new songs that had fans dancing and singing along.

This is the second year of the four year Cameco Cares concert series, with $220,000 raised for the Saskatoon Hospital Foundation.
