CALGARY – Six people were sent to hospital after a two-vehicle crash near Bowden on Sunday.

The collision happened on Highway 587, about one kilometre west of Highway 2, just after 4:30 p.m.

RCMP say it appears a westbound Ford F150 collided head-on with an eastbound Ram pickup truck.

STARS Air Ambulance responded to the crash, transporting the drivers of each of the vehicles (one man and one woman) to hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition.

Three other patients were rushed to hospital in Red Deer with non-life-threatening injuries, while one woman was taken to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary in series but stable condition.

Police are investigating alcohol and speed as factors in the collision.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact the Olds RCMP Detachment at 403-556-3324 or Crime Stoppers.
