TORONTO — Musician Phil Collins has bought the former Miami Beach home of Jennifer Lopez for a whopping $33 million.

Collins’s ex-wife Orianne Collins-Mejjati lives in Miami — where she owns a jewellery store — with the couple’s sons Nicholas and Matthew.

Built in 1929, the 1,129-square-metre home at 5800 North Bay Road has 61 metres of waterfront on Biscayne Bay with a view of the Miami skyline.

The house has seven bedrooms, a wine cellar and a courtyard with a 22,713-litre koi pond. The property boasts an 18-metre pool and cabana with outdoor kitchen.

Mark Gainor, founder of Lucor Holdings, and his wife Elyse bought the mansion from Lopez in 2005 for $13.9 million. After spending a reported $11 million on renovations, he listed the property in 2010 for $29 million. The asking price went up to $40 million in 2012.

It was listed this year for $37.5 million.

Collins, 64, is the former drummer and vocalist for Genesis who went on to have solo hits like “In the Air Tonight”, “Another Day in Paradise” and “Sussudio.” He has collected seven Grammys, an Oscar and two Golden Globes.

Ranked one of the wealthiest artists in the British music industry, Collins hasn’t released an album since 2010’s Going Back.

He is the father of actress Lily Collins (with second wife Jill Tavelman) and musician Simon Collins and Canadian actress Joely Collins (with his first wife, Canadian Andrea Bertorelli).
