EDMONTON — We’ve all been there: something makes you giggle and then it’s all over – you just can’t stop.
Two Global News anchors found themselves in exactly that position while covering a story about a little girl’s encounter with the Queen – more specifically, the Queen’s guard.

A little girl was accidentally smacked in the head by a saluting soldier just moments after the child gave Queen Elizabeth II a bouquet of flowers at a Colours Parade for the Royal Welsh Regiment in Cardiff.
Maisie Gregory, 6, is seen in a video wearing a traditional Welsh costume, curtseying to the Queen. Moments later, a saluting soldier smacked the child on the head, sending her bonnet flying.
Shaye Ganam, Global Edmonton’s Noon News co-anchor, couldn’t keep a straight face reading the news story on Friday.
As he continues through the script, his co-anchor Erin Chalmers, can be heard losing it in the background as the footage is played again.
“She was fine,” Ganam is able to say.
“The best is – no one seemed to notice,” he gets out.
“I think she noticed, look,” Chalmers squeaks, referring to one woman in the video.
When the camera cuts back to the pair on the news desk, she is bent over the desk wiping tears from her eyes and he can barely speak through the laughter.
“She’s fine! She’s totally fine,” Chalmers reiterates. “It more caught her hat.”
“Don’t throw it over to me now,” weatherman Mike Sobel can be heard saying.
