Toronto police release details on deadly collision

Toronto police are releasing some details about a collision which killed one pedestrian and injured four other people.

The incident took place just before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Yonge St. and Empress Ave.

Police say a 62-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry when her car side-swiped another vehicle and continued into an intersection.

The Camry then hit four pedestrians, mounted a curb, hit a concrete embankment, a tree and another parked car before coming to a stop.

One pedestrian was killed and the three others were taken to hospital, one of them with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Camry was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact them.
