SASKATOON – Eugene Demkiw could be seen putting the last piece of tape on the corner of a poster of his son’s face in Saskatoon’s Broadway neighbourhood Wednesday.
“Come home buddy,” he says, taking a step back as he looks at the smiling face under the bold words “Missing Person.”
Dwayne Demkiw, 42, has been missing since the end of May. He was last seen leaving his job in Edmonton, where the homicide unit is investigating the case.

“I got a call from a constable in Calgary, saying they found my son’s partially burned car,” said Eugene, after posting the flyers in a Saskatoon Co-op gas bar.
“I was in shock and still am in shock, the first week was a total write out for me,” he added.
Dwayne grew up in North Battleford and Saskatoon, where his father said he DJ’d at the Sutherland Bar. He moved to Edmonton roughly 15 years ago and has lived there since.
“Dwayne is pretty much a family man and very devoted to his job,” said Eugene of his son, who is a father of two boys.
“For him to have missed his Sunday shift was something that I’d never expected.”
Eugene and his brother John Demkiw said they planned to spend the better part of Wednesday afternoon putting up posters across Saskatoon. The two said friends of Dwayne’s were doing the same in parts of Alberta.
“As long as it takes we’ll put up signs, we’ll phone, do phoning, whatever we have to do,” said John.
“If it was my kid he’d be doing the same for me.”
Despite his son’s disappearance, Eugene says he’s confident the efforts to find Dwayne will pay off.
“I hope to get a phone call from some place, saying my son is well and alive,” said Eugene.
“It’s not only hope, I know it’s going to happen.”
