SASKATOON – A fire forced the evacuation of an apartment building in Saskatoon Thursday evening. The Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls around 6:40 p.m. of smoke coming from a top-floor suite at 1113 Northumberland Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find people evacuating the building a smoke coming out of a third-floor window.
An interior attack was started and the fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes.
Crews conducted a search to ensure the fire had not spread to other parts of the building.
No injuries were reported.

Fourteen tenants were displaced and had to seek alternate refuge as a result of the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Damage is estimated at $600,000.
