West Kelowna Soccer Club wants your vote

West Kelowna–There’s a lot of love for soccer in West Kelowna. More players signed up with the West Side Youth Soccer Association this
year than expected.

“We have over 1000 kids, 1100 registrants this year, sharing a handful of fields on the west side that are in various degrees of condition.” Says Owen Goward, Head Coach of the U10 Boys Vipers FC.

At many practices, teams must share a field and if West Kelowna soccer players want to play indoors, they have to cross over the bridge to Kelowna.

“One of the things we are working towards is an artificial turf field built on the west side,” says Goward, “one that you could build a dome over top of and be able to play all seasons.”

Of course these things cost money.

Recently, the parents of one young player saw an online contest. It’s called “Show Soccer Some Love”. It invites applicants to submit a video showing a love for the game, and the grand prize is 20 thousand dollars.

The contest is based on online votes, and closes June 1st. You can vote here.
