Recent flooding in Colombia triggered by a landslide has caused widespread destruction in the town of Salgar.
But out of the devastation one incident of a life saved is making headlines around the world.
Footage captured by police cameras shows a dog getting swept away by the swollen Liboriana river.
A handful of officers ran along the riverbank as the dog helplessly was dragged downriver, when finally an officer jumped into the raging waters and scooped up the pooch.
Officers immediately began CPR on the lifeless dog which eventually woke up.
The dog reportedly suffered minor injuries from hitting rocks in the river but is expected to make a full recovery.
The flash flood triggered by heavy rains was Colombia’s deadliest disaster since 1999. At least 84 people have died.
