In 2007 Thomas was convicted of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Thomas and two others met the girl at a Winnipeg shopping centre, took her to a home where alcohol and marijuana were consumed and prevented her from leaving. Thomas then sexually assaulted her and was later arrested.

The last time he got out of jail was in December 2014 but was re-arrested on January 15 after breaching the conditions of his probation and getting drunk.
