PINEHOUSE, Sask. – A fisherman stumbled upon a tragic scene in northern Saskatchewan on Monday. He reported to RCMP that he had discovered the body of a deceased man in Pinehouse Lake.

The local fisherman took police by boat to the body’s location approximately 10 kilometres south of Pinehouse, Sask.

A second man was found dead nearby in the water.

Initial investigation indicates the victims, ages 45 and 49, left Pinehouse by quad to go hunting and fishing on April 26. RCMP say it was not uncommon for the men to be gone for long periods and therefore they had not been reported missing.

The victims’ names have not been released at this time.

Their deaths are not considered suspicious. Autopsies are scheduled to take place this week at Saskatoon City Hospital.
