The Players Cup is coming to Niakwa Country Club in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — After more than a decade at the Pine Ridge Golf Club, Winnipeg’s professional golf tour stop is on the move.

Organizers of The Players Cup announced they’ve extended its contract with the PGA Tour Canada to keep the event in Manitoba through 2019 and they will alternate host golf courses. Pine Ridge will once again host the 4-day tournament this summer but the Niakwa Country Club will hold the event in 2016 and again in 2018.

“We have long believed that The Players Cup is Manitoba’s event,” Executive Director of The Players Cup Ryan Hart said through a media release. “By moving the event into the city on alternating years to another iconic venue, our hope is to make The Players Cup more accessible to sports fans in our province.”

The tournament will go back to Pine Ridge in 2017 and it will also host the 100th anniversary tournament in 2019.
