Winnipeg Jets start playoffs Thursday in Anaheim

WINNIPEG – Jets fans are in for some late nights this week.

The team plays its first two Stanley Cup playoff games Thursday and Saturday against the Ducks in Anaheim, meaning a 9:30 p.m. start for TV viewers in this time zone.

Winnipeg’s first taste of Stanley Cup playoff action at home since 1996 will happen Monday, April 20 at 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 22 at 8:30 p.m.

The last three games in the series, if required, will be played Friday, April 24 in Anaheim; Sunday, April 26 in Winnipeg and Tuesday, April 28 in Anaheim.

The Ducks finished higher in the NHL standings after the 82-game regular season with 109 points, giving the 2007 Stanley Cup winners home ice advantage for the first round of the 2015 championship.

The Winnipeg Jets finished the season with 99 points, enough to secure the second Western Conference wild card playoff spot, defying predictions in the fall that they would not qualify for post season play.
